Date : 2016.07.19 Read : 260

Professor Yoo Dong Won(41), who came home from the US where he successfully developed and launched the only prostate cancer medicine, is now on another journey; developing a new Korean medicine. “Xtandi” sales recorded 2 trillionwon globally and Professor Yoo earned more than 60 billion won for his excellent performance.

Although he could have enjoyed the many merits if he chose to work for prestigious pharmaceutical corporations, he refused the offers and returned to South Korea. He wishes to develop a mega-scale medicine in his home country. He is eager to change conventional research practices so that scientists could nourish creativity and ultimately, achieve more. Cooperative relationships, rather than top-down relationships among researchers is the most important value that Professor Yoo wants to foster among Korean scientists.

Overall, these changes in research conventions are expected to contribute to Korea’s economic prosperity.
